Weathering the parenting storm
I have always envied parents who homeschooled. I believed this was a noble endeavor and wished I was brave enough to do it too.
Nonetheless, I knew my perfectionist tendencies will not only be an obstacle to effectively teach my kids but most probably will also murky our parent-child relationship.
And….. now I am forced to face my fears and dive into this task like you and every other parent. To be honest, I feel I was right about my fears!!! At times, it feels like my inner child’s screaming and striving to gain control by controlling my real children.
Alas, that my adult self knows this is futile. Control is an illusion, and the virus is proving that!
It is so eye-opening when I notice most of the lectures I give them are rightfully meant for myself…
…
You need to be more patient!
You need to be more adaptable!
You need to be kind to each other!
…
Well… Honestly, it is me who needs to be more patient, adaptable, and kind. Does MIRROR come to mind?!
This is how our children become our greatest awakeners.
Now, is there a way to be conscious and compassionate, and at the same time, get our kids to do their academic tasks or other independent works, so we can actually get some work done ourselves without yelling and punitive measures?
I am going on another Free Zoom call tonight to talk about some tips and tools to weather this unpredictable parenting storm with more grace, ease, and joy.
I hope you join me.

Here is a comment about a masterclass I did this week:
“That was wonderful. Thank you. It was just what I needed. I took 4 pages of notes while you talked. I appreciated how you took so many different techniques and explained how they work together. I also have not had much success with meditating for more than a few minutes at a time because I get frustrated. Having the idea of doing breath-work several times a day is an approach I am going to try. Thank you for that idea.”
