1. Have a clear vision of your goal and visualize the desired outcome
It never stops surprising me how we are rarely certain of what we really want. We just, on some abstract level, have the need to feel happier and more accomplished. If we are not sure of what we concretely want, how will the Universe know in order to make it happen for us? The best approach to identifying your dreams and visions is to write. Set aside at least an hour to explore and write how you like to see yourself in the future in all aspects of life; health, relationship, success and spirituality. You can split the list into short-term and long-term goals and visions. Try to be specific. Feel the responsibility that you truly are co-creating your life. What you want, will happen. Be detailed and bullet-proof. Sometimes, when I’m not pleased with an outcome and examine my goal agenda, I see that the entire list has come to pass, and that the missing element in the outcome is actually missing from my list!
One of the other obstacles is that we simply don’t ask, or metaphorically don’t order from the catalog of the Universe. We assume that we, single-handedly, need to accomplish our goals and this causes us to feel alone, distressed, powerless and sometimes even depressed. Human being cannot function his best in a not-relaxed state. Eventually, we fall into a negativity spiral and lose control. It’s essential to remember that we are part of a super intelligent Universe. We are encompassed in a supportive and regal system. If you dare to ask the Cosmos to assist you, you will fall into the flow and your path will be paved via various means such as inspirations to do specific actions, serendipitous events or simply miracles.
Once you have identified your goals and dreams, get in the habit of visualizing the end results as if they have already happened. Mix emotions such as joy and gratitude with the imaginary scenes. This is a phenomenal goal manifestation technique. The best time to visualize is when you are on the verge of falling asleep. This is when our brain produces Alpha brainwaves and causes us to go into a hypnotic state. At this level of the mind, the subconscious mind is the most suggestible and is strongly malleable to receive new data. Create vision boards and take advantage of affirmation sentences to cultivate goal achievement in deeper levels of the mind. Ask, and it is given. Expect miracles!
2. Identify and clear your limiting beliefs
95% of our mind has been programmed with myriads of data during the years of 0-6 years old. This part of the mind, named subconscious mind, is the drive behind all of our reactions, habits, and activities. The remaining 5%, called the conscious mind, encompasses our intentions and goals, and it remains virtually powerless against the massive influence of the subconscious mind. This visual will help you grasp the grandiosity of the subconscious mind and how it hinders us from reaching our goals. Imagine you are in a rowboat and are thriving your hardest to row your boat forward and reach your destination, but it’s fruitless. The harder you row, the more frustrated you feel. What is holding you back is actually the anchor deep rooted in the seabed. This anchor is your limiting belief that has been programmed in your mind most probably in the early years of childhood via your authority figures and your surrounding.
An example of a limiting belief is when you intend to become rich, unaware that you subconsciously believe that money is the root of all evil or you have to become old or work too hard to acquire a certain amount of income. This limiting belief sabotages your intention and impedes you from moving forward with your goal. If you want to lose weight, you might subconsciously believe that it’s impossible to reach your ideal weight since you have tried it numerous times and the most you have achieved is a yo-yo result. This belief, alone, hinders you to even be suggestible to a positive result.
Now to find your limiting beliefs, like any other discovery process, start writing. Catch your negative emotion, find the thought behind the emotion and the belief behind the thought. Now ask yourself why you have this belief. Try to bring contradictory examples of your own life and others to disempower the limiting belief. Ideally, you will come to the understanding that your limiting belief is not a fact, and it, in fact, is just an opinion of yours. Finally, ask yourself if you prefer to choose a different belief that can actually serve you in reaching your goal. For example, money can be the awesome means for me to contribute to the betterment of the world, and therefore it cannot be the root of all evil for me. Or I have seen people losing weight all the time, so if I stumble upon a solid healthy eating and exercising system, I can do it too.
Meditation, self-hypnosis, visualization, affirmation and vision boards are some of the tools to help you reprogram your mind and replace your limiting beliefs with the ones that essentially serve you. Subconscious mind does not understand words. The language of the subconscious mind is emotion, repetition, and action. Feel grateful that you have replaced your limiting belief, use the tools consistently and stick to your actions step to prove your subconscious mind that you are serious. Rinse and repeat the practice of your choice for at least 21 days (or better yet 3 months) to guarantee you have built a new neural pathway and have replaced your old beliefs.
As the cell biologist, Dr. Bruce Lipton says, “If you change your belief, you change your reality.”
3. Explore your goals and produce an outline to carry out manageable sub-goals
Once you have identified your goal, explore the most optimal action steps you need to embrace in order to achieve your goal in a timely fashion. Break down the tasks into viable and sustainable chunks. Try to be a fair judge, assigning yourself a reasonable and realistic to-do list. Have a detailed and timed list for the following day, as well as a weekly and a monthly agenda. Every night, spend some time to schedule your next day on a sheet of paper or on a digital device. Be accountable and follow the plan. Use checkmarks once daily tasks are completed to feel rewarded and accomplished.
4. Apply an efficient time management system and get accountable
Time management is actually priority management. In order to organize your tasks, give priority to the most important and the most critical one. Learn to say NO when necessary. Brian Tracy suggests, Eat that Frog First, meaning attend to the most demanding and significant task preceding others. Take breaks, walk and stretch regularly and recuperate to go on full-force with the next portion. Procrastination is the result of misjudging values. Re-evaluate your tasks often and refocus your energy and priorities to regain control. Always remember that multitasking works against you. Close one task and then attend to the next.
5. Create a personal support system to stay on track
Avoid stepping in the pitfalls and maintain your positive driving energy on a daily basis. Even the strongest leaders need cues and assistance to nurture their focus. Practice makes perfect. We are in the business of reprogramming our mind in order to serve us better. It takes repetition and practice to replace old habitual conducts. If you are persistent, you will get it; if you are consistent, you will keep it. Have faith and be steadfast in your journey. You will actualize your desires and goals before you know it. Set daily reminders to make you pause your routine and reflect on your true self, your current emotion, and your vision.
Ask a supportive friend or a coach to give you ongoing encouragements and to keep you accountable for your daily or weekly assignments. Give yourself rewards and have fun. Anything that is transmuted into a chore or a difficult task, is harder to deal with. If you treat your tasks this way, the journey will be cumbersome and the result is not ideal. Relax and enjoy the ride. We learn and function better in a relaxed state of mind. As soon as you catch a negative wave, take a deep breath and become aware of the moment and expand your perspective, meditate, listen to inspiring music, read, listen to or watch a motivation material or get in touch with your support system. If you want to change your mood, go play, take a walk, watch a good movie, dance or have a soulful conversation. Take on any action of your choice to raise your vibration to higher frequency emotions such as love, joy, gratitude and peace, and all will be good.
It is always helpful to have a coach 🙂
6. Never stop researching and learning more about your visions and missions
As the saying goes; the more you learn, the more you earn. Nothing static will last. Don’t be resistant to transforming into something more refined at any point in your life. Try not to get comfortable with your achievements. This does not mean that you do not live at the moment, or do not experience joy now. As a matter of fact, when you feel gratitude about your present state of being, you will get inspired to do more. The more you contribute to this world, the richer your life will become with pure blessings and Divine consciousness. Be mindful at any moment. Take note of all you are, and get aligned to your true self. Expect to get inspired with the actions you are to take to further empower you to stay in tune with the Light and the Divine beauty.
7. Maintain your perspective and have fun on your journey
Life is an ongoing journey of finding and rediscovering our true self, time and again. The moments we are aware of our flawless Divine being, are the blissful and purposeful moments of alignment and congruence with nature and the Universe around us. The moments of co-creation. We simply feel happy and don’t feel the need to gain something or get somewhere to make us feel this way. We are purely enough. World is enough. The chirping of the blue jays is plenty and the slow mesmerizing motion of white cottony clouds in the chest of the vast blue sky is abundant. We breathe in oneness and breathe out joy. Sometimes we merely need to observe the massiveness of the world surrounding us and within us to revive our perspective. By taking these regular breaks from our daily life, we can recuperate and refocus our energy. All is good, we are where we need to be. Let’s have fun with the journey and have a playful attitude so we don’t miss out on our present. As Natalie Goldberg says, “What’s important is not only what we do, but how we do it. Don’t listen to doubt. It leads to no place but to pain and negativity.” Let us savor our daily adventures and tasks and be aware of our emotions. Starve what you don’t want and feed what you do.
Only as high as I reach can I grow
Only as far as I seek can I go
Only as deep as I look can I see
Only as much as I dream can I be
